More than 90% of Romanians (93.6%) share the opinion that the protests of local farmers and hauliers are justified, according to a new survey conducted by the INSCOP polling agency. The poll was commissioned by News.ro and shared with BTA.
A total of 65.5 percent of the respondents do not approve of the attempts of political parties’ representatives to participate in the demonstrations. According to INSCOP Director Remus Stefureac, most people believe that those politicians are not interested in finding solutions, but only follow their own electoral interests.
The survey also examines the attitudes of Romanians towards their country’s economic development, as well as their views about their standard of living. More than two-thirds of the respondents believe that Romania has headed in the wrong direction, more than 40% believe that the country's economy will have a negative development, and more than half of those questioned expect that their standard of living in 2024 will be lower than in 2023. A total of 24.8% believe that things are going well in Romania, while 69.7% are pessimistic about the country's future.
The voters of the Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party, and people with higher incomes are the most optimistic ones. Тhe supporters of the nationalist Alliance for the Union of Romanians and people with low incomes believe the contrary.
INSCOP’s survey was conducted among 1,100 Romanian citizens of various social and demographic groups through telephone interviews between January 16 and 24.
