Turkiye and Iran intend to increase bilateral trade to USD 30 billion a year, said on Wednesday Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi, Turkish state television TRT-Haber reported.
The President of Iran arrived on an official visit to Turkiyе at the invitation of Erdogan. The two held bilateral talks and participated in the eighth meeting of the High-Level Cooperation Council between the two countries. Earlier in the day, ten cooperation agreements were signed between Turkiye and Iran, including in the fields of energy, transport, investment, trade, communications, industry and science and culture.
During the talks on Wednesday, the two sides discussed in detail regional and international issues and mainly the situation in Gaza. They agreed that it was important to avoid steps that would further jeopardize the security and stability of the region, and discussed the need to stop Israel's inhumane attacks on Gaza and take urgent measures to establish a just and lasting peace, Erdogan said.
Raisi, in turn, said that the Palestinian issue is of key importance to the Islamic world and a just solution to the problem must be found. He also said that joint efforts need to be made to establish a "new just world order" and there should be cooperation with Turkiye in this regard.
