An 86-year-old Italian who lived in the village of Chernogorovo, near the town of Pazardzhik, was killed in a street accident on Tuesday evening, the Regional Directorate of the Interior said on Wednesday.

The investigation found the man was hit by a Ford car driven by a 65-year-old man from the same village. The driver was arrested for 24 hours. The body of the victim was taken for an autopsy at the Forensic Medicine Department of the general hospital for active treatment in Pazardzhik.

Pre-trial proceedings are underway under the supervision of the District Prosecution Office of Pazardzhik.
