Ten years of "Concert for Babies" were celebrated at the National Opera and Ballet. With a festive performance, a full hall, balloons for the little visitors and a festive mood, the team and the audience - from babies to grandmothers, marked the round anniversary.
“I am happy that we raised a whole generation of children and artists who love opera. This is the meaning of my work,” director of the show Yulia Krasteva told BTA. She noted that she feels great excitement when she watches the reaction of the audience. "When you see the happy eyes, when they don't want to leave, then you really feel fulfilled and happy," says the director with a smile and excitement.
"We started doing the baby shows ten years ago. And a lot of these kids are big now and we see them in the big hall," said director of the National Opera and Ballet Plamen Kartaloff, adding that the goal is to grow their audience on this stage, built especially for the youngest audience.
The opera director said many of the artists have grown up with the audience and are now on the big stage - sopranos, tenors, mezzo-sopranos. He thanked Yulia Krasteva and presented her with a certificate of appreciation on the occasion of 10 years of concerts for babies.
"Over 50,000 babies with their parents watched our performances. That's over 630 performances done by many artists," he said.
"From the beginning, there was always an audience for these concerts. Indeed, over time we have educated and nurtured our audiences, who seek us out more and more, which is our job. So the opera works tightly for its audience," Krasteva said. She noted that she always had faith in the success of this series.
According to her, there are already nearly 40 productions for children on the National Opera's bill. For most of them tickets are sold out months ahead. The Concert for Babies series was launched in 2008. "We have not only opera performances but also ballet shows and musicals on the big stage,” the show director pointed out.
