Bulgarian Agriculture and Food Minister Kiril Vatev attended on Saturday the conference of ministers of agriculture, organised by the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture as part of the Global Forum on Food and Agriculture (GFFA).

The event is part of the agenda of Berlin's Green Week 2024, held January 19-28.

On Friday, Minister Vatev Friday opened the Bulgarian stand. It was visited by Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture Cem Ozdemir, Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner, Messe Berlin CEO Mario Tobias, German Farmer's Association President Joachim Rukwied, Federation of German Food and Drink Industries Chairman Christian von Boetticher and other official guests.

Bulgaria is presented at the international event for the 33rd time with its own stand, where the products of 11 producers are exhibited, including dairy and meat products, spices, wines, organic products, honey, vegetable oils and products with Bulgarian rose oil.

During the visit, Vatev met with Moldova's Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea. The two discussed opportunities for cooperation and exchange of scientific knowledge in the field of livestock production. Bulgaria's Deputy Ministers of Agriculture and Food, Deyan Stratev and Tanya Georgieva, also participated in the meeting.

Vatev highlighted the scientific achievements of the Agricultural Academy and Bulgarian agricultural universities. Bolea presented the vision for the development of dairy production and sheep and cattle farming. He pointed out that agriculture should be developed as a competitive and sustainable sector. The two ministers agreed that a delegation from Moldova should visit Bulgaria soon to learn about the capacities of Bulgarian scientific units and achievements in the field of meat and dairy farming.

This year's Green Week Berlin focuses on sustainability, food security and the future of agribusiness. During the ten days, 1,400 exhibitors from 60 countries will inform visitors about modern agriculture and the food industry, culinary trends and sustainability issues in the sector.

The show is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors from over 60 countries.
