On January 18, an analysis of the status and preparations of Naval Base Burgas for the past year was held, the press centre of the Bulgarian Navy said on Thursday.

The analysis was attended by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff for Resources Captain 1st Rank Atanas Zmiycharov, Commander of Naval Base Burgas Captain 1st Rank Petar Petrov, Deputy Commander of the Flotilla of Battle and Auxiliary Ships Captain 1st Rank Pavlin Petkov, officers of the base command and commanders of subordinate military formations.

It was noted that despite the numerous difficulties and inspections carried out by the Ministry of Defence and other institutions over the past year, the Naval Base Burgas and the subordinate military formations successfully fulfilled the tasks assigned to them and showed satisfactory results of the inspections. Several exercises were conducted: tactical exercise of the Naval Base Burgas "Emona 2023"; logistic support for a tactical exercise of the Flotilla of battle and auxiliary ships "Black Sea 2023"; and national naval exercise with international participation "Breeze 2023".

The focus in the past year was the continued good cooperation and interaction of the Naval Base Burgas with the state and local authorities. The commander of the base emphasized that personnel and equipment from his subordinate unit have repeatedly participated in the destruction and disposal of unexploded ordnance and aiding the population in controlling fires, the release said.
