site.btaEmployment Agency Activates over 45,000 People in Labour Market in 2023
As a result of the hard work of the employment intermediaries in the labour offices, 45,096 people have been activated on the labour market and started work and/or training, according to the annual report of the National Employment Agency. This is 38% more than in 2022. Thus, the number of unemployed people who entered employment in 2023 with the assistance of the labour offices totalled 154,637 and 91.0% of them found employment in the primary labour market.
The country's registered unemployment rate increased by 0.1 percentage point on a monthly basis to 5.6% in December. The number of registered unemployed persons at the end of the month totalled 158,205, up by 1,580 persons compared to last month.
A further 18,274 unemployed persons were registered at the labour offices in December. There was a decrease compared to the previous month of 6,187 persons, and 8,139 fewer newly registered persons compared to December 2022.
In the labour offices during the month, the representatives of the primary market filled 4,452 vacancies, compared to 7,582 in November 2023. In the real economy, the largest number of vacancies were in manufacturing (19.6%), public administration (17.7%) trade (12.9%), education (12.9%), followed by hotels and restaurants (7.5%), administrative and support activities (7.1%).
The occupations most in demand by businesses in December were: personal care attendants; salespersons; personal service workers; teachers; machine operators of stationary machinery and equipment; janitors and helpers; workers in the mining and manufacturing, construction, and transportation industries; skilled food, apparel, wood products, and related production workers; refuse collection and related workers; business and administrative professionals, among others.
