Five charter flights departed from Plovdiv Airport on Friday morning to transport Bulgarian tourists who will welcome 2024 in Turkish resorts. Those flights had arrived from Antalya with tourists for Bulgarian winter resorts. 

The next five flights from Antalya are expected to land and depart on January 2. There will be more flights between Plovdiv and Antalya throughout the winter season.

The regular flights between Plovdiv and Tel Aviv will resume on January 15.  

There has been strong interest in the charters flights from Belfast to Plovdiv. A total of 151 Irish tourists arrived this week to spend the holidays in Bulgarian winter resorts. The next flight from Belfast is scheduled for December 31. 

Many British tourists are expected with the new flights from Manchester. The flights to London continue, with ten flights to and from Plovdiv scheduled for the next six days alone. 

Doychin Angelov, head of the Plovdiv Airport Directors Office, said that the airport can service 1 million passengers a year. A total of 230,000 passengers were serviced as at mid-December, and effort is made to increase their number.

The number of flights serviced by Plovdiv Airport was increased significantly in the past year. The Fund for the Development of Plovdiv Airport  is negotiating on the launch of flights to German cities and attractive destinations in Italy and Spain.
