Customs officers have seized branded goods, contraband cigarettes, mussels, and powder laundry detergents during several inspections at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint, the Haskovo Regional Interior Ministry Directorate said in a press release on Friday.
An undeclared 2,600 pieces of cigarettes without excise duty were found in a truck, while 462 perfumes with trademark logos and inscriptions without the owner's permission and 6,000 pieces of cigarettes without excise duty were found in a bus.
In two other multivans, 1,400 kilograms of mussels and 1,500 kilograms of powder laundry detergent were found. The mussels were seized by officials of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
Counterfeit goods of famous world brands are typical for the Haskovo region. They are mainly imported from Turkey and usually detected at the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint during their transportation, or at the Sunday flea market in the near town of Dimitrovgrad, one of their main places of distribution.
