In a Bulgarian National Radio interview on Sunday, Kristian Vigenin, Bulgarian Socialist Party Deputy Chair and MEP of the BSP/Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, said that the situation in BSP is very different from the one in the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), referring to the rift in MRF.

"Our party is united. Yes, there was some conflict, but [BSP’s] National Council took the decisions regarding acting Chair Atanas Zafirov and the expulsion of the former comrades by a huge majority", Vigenin stressed.

He noted that BSP's regional chairs have come out in support of a broad left alliance. "Things are stabilizing, only this judicial saga remains," Vigenin said, referring to Korneliya Ninova's expulsion. He added that, currently, Atanas Zafirov represents the BSP for Bulgaria coalition before the Central Election Commission. "What lies ahead is the registration of the new BSP - United Left coalition," the BSP Deputy Chair said.
