The president is right that everyone should position themselves. I have positioned myself for GERB to emerge as the first political force, this is my battle, GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists in Plovdiv on Saturday.

From the rostrum in Parliament I refused the support of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), I have positioned myself and the MRF have never supported me for anything, neither in presidential and parliamentary elections, nor in Parliament, Borissov further said. He said he could not deny that together with the MRF GERB made the most complicated decisions when everyone else was avoiding them.

Those who want to position themselves around the first political force are welcome, Borissov said. In his words, efforts to form a government should start now.

He said he wants GERB to govern and the party's task is to ensure stability so that the budget can be implemented. “Our creed is low taxes, calm, and working businesses,” the GERB leader said.
“The parties should pull themselves together, get a good result, increase voter turnout so that we can make a government,” Borissov said. In his words, history shows that GERB can work with patriotic formations and with a reformist bloc with which it has been in coalition. Everything else is up to party leaders and how they will carry out their campaigns, Borissov said, adding that if several parties are excluded already now, there is no point in holding elections. “GERB is ready to govern, with very good mayors and experts,” Borissov added.

Boyko Borisov and Vladimir Temelkov, Plovdiv Deputy Mayor for Education, Business Development and European Policies, said that the local football club Maritsa has secured a budget of BGN 300,000 for 2025. They visited the new pitches under construction next to the Plovdiv Language School, which will be made available for use by the children's and youth school of the club. The meeting was attended by Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov, the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Atanas Uzunov, Bulgarian football player Hristo Stoichkov and gymnast Yordan Yovchev, Olympic silver medallist from the Games in Athens 2004.
