Council of Ministers Increases Maximum Amount of Expenditures for Ministry of Energy by BGN 31.4 Mln

The Council of Ministers adopted a decree increasing by BGN 31,438,015 the maximum amounts of expenditure commitments and the new expenditure obligations of the Ministry of Energy, confirmed by the State Budget Act.

As of September 2023, there was an excess of these expenditures due to the following: In December 2022, the Council of Ministers approved an additional BGN 450 million from the budget of the Ministry of Energy in order to finance compensation programs due to the high energy prices. These funds were also used to finance the shortfall of the targeted contributions of producers and importers of electricity and natural gas, which were collected in the Electricity System Security Fund and used to pay compensations. On April 3, 2023, before adoption of the 2023 State Budget Act, BGN 31,438,015 was transferred to the fund from the Ministry of Energy.
