The National Assembly is debating Monday on first reading the 2024 draft state budget. Proposed by the government, it envisages a deficit of 3% or BGN 6.2 billion, economic growth of 3.2% (against 1.8% in 2023), inflation of 4.8% (down from 9.1% this year) and unemployment declining to 4%. 

Ivan Chenchev MP ("BSP for Bulgaria") moved for inviting the entire government to the plenary hall for the debate. Parliament deputy chair Rositsa Kirova, who presided over the sitting, said that the ministers would be invited and Finance Minister Assen Vassilev was already here.

Speaking to the press Monday on the sidelines of a meeting of mayors which he added,  Parliament Chair Rossen Zhelyazkov said that the voting of the final versions of the state budget bill and the budget bills for the National Health Insurance Fund and the State Sofial Insurance will depend on the schedule for adopting the constitutional revisions and that he expects the three budgets to be passed between December 20 and 22.
