The WWF is launching a campaign, entitled “Gift Nature. For Our Future“, which will help tackle the problem with illegal logging, which has already been joined by the Sofia Municipality. It is carried out with the media support of Nova TV, the Bulgarian National Radio, the Bulgarian News Agency, ClubZ.bg, DarikNews.bg, Dir.bg, Gobio.bg, Netinfocompany.bg, Ohnamama.bg, OFFNews.bg, Podtepeto.com, Vesti.bg, Vbox7.com.

Over a quarter of logging in Bulgaria is illegal, according to a WWF report. A poll, carried out every four years, shows that illegal logging generates over BGN 100 million annually. In addition, forests cannot fulfil functions and entire regions are left without clean air and drinking water. According to the WWF report illegal logging takes place even in the three national parks - Rila, Pirin and Central Balkan.
