The Bulgarian Consulate General in Valencia has not received official information confirming media publications about a Bulgarian woman found dead after the flash floods in Spain, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a press release Sunday.
According to Spanish authorities, the identity of only about 40 of all confirmed flood victims is currently known. The procedure for identifying the bodies found requires relatives to file a complaint with the police about the disappearance of their relatives, then provide a DNA sample for comparison. More than 1,900 people are missing, data show.
The Bulgarian representation in Valencia continues to monitor the situation and is in constant contact with the competent Spanish authorities, the Foreign Ministry said.
