Argentina has begun a process of deep deregulation of its economic activity, and the country is already witnessing a new reality after President Javier Milei came into power recently, said Argentina's Ambassador to Bulgaria Alejandro Zothner Meyer. The Ambassador spoke during a presentation on opportunities to strengthen industrial and commercial ties between Argentina and Bulgaria and on key tools to maximize business opportunities for companies, hosted by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) in Sofia on Friday.
During the forum organized by BCCI and the Embassy of Argentina in Bulgaria, Meyer said that Argentina is a recognized agricultural power and has great potential in mining.
According to US Department of Energy, Argentina is second in the world it terms of shale gas reserves and fourth in terms of shale oil, the Ambassador reported. "Argentina is a leader in the region in terms of software technology, as there are more than 11 unicorns or companies in the country valued at more than USD 1 billion," he added.
BCCI President Tsvetan Simeonov said that the quantities and value of trade between Bulgaria and Argentina allow for serious development in the foreseeable future.
The Governor of the Argentine Province of Chaco, Leandro Zdero, presented the advantages of Chaco as an investment destination. Argentine Small and Medium-Sized Confederation (CAME) President Alfredo Gonzalez noted that this region has developed programmes to stimulate entrepreneurship.
At the end of the event, BCCI and CAME signed a cooperation agreement.
