site.btaFood Prices Index Up 0,09% in Outgoing Week

The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.09% to 2.131 points in the outgoing week, show data released by the  State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets on Sunday. Last week, the index stood at 2.129 points.

The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.

Greenhouse cucumbers appreciated by 4.5% to BGN 2.57 per kilogram, while greenhouse tomatoes depreciated by 5.1% to BGN 3.03 per kilogram. The price of green peppers went up by 1.2% to BGN 1.84 per kilogram and that of red peppers, by 4.2% to BGN 2.24 per kilogram.

Potatoes depreciated by 4% to BGN 1.15 per kilogram, while carrots appreciated by 4.1% to BGN 1.12 per kilogram. The price of ripe onions went down by 8.9% to BGN 1.00 per kilogram, while that of cabbage increased by 1.9% to BGN 1.06 per kilogram. 

The price of lemons decreased by 15.1% to BGN 2.42 per kilogram, while the decrease in bananas was minimal by 0.3% to BGN 2.47 per kilogram. Grapes appreciated by 5.0% to BGN 2.49 per kilogram and apples, by 3.7% to BGN 1.59 per kilogram. The price of oranges dropped by 0.8% to BGN 2.50 per kilogram and of tangerines, by 9.9% to BGN 3.19 per kilogram.

The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk went up by 0.2% to BGN 11.24/kg and that of yellow 'kashkaval' cheese of the Vitosha type, by 1.4% to BGN 17.00/kg.

Yoghurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) ) depreciated by 0.3% to BGN 1.27 for a cup of 400 grammes, while fresh milk (3% fat content) appreciated by 5.7% to BGN 2.42  per liter.

The price of poultry went down by 1.3% to BGN 6.32/kg, while that of eggs (size M) went up by 0.6% to BGN 0.32 per piece.

The price of rice went down by 1.2% to BGN 3.34/kg, while that of lentils rose by 0.7% to BGN 4.43/kg and of ripe beans, by 0.9% to BGN 4.32/kg.

Sugar went up in price by 1.0% to BGN 1.98 per kilogram and cooking oil, by 0.1% to BGN 2.93 per litre. The price of cow's butter (125 gram package) went up by 2.9% to BGN 2.98 per piece. Flour (Type 500) depreciated by 2.5% to BGN 1.32 per kilogram.
