Tourism Minister to Support Hosting of Snowboard World Cup in Bansko

The Ministry of Tourism Sunday officially announced its partnership in hosting the Snowboard World Cup in Bansko in January 2025. On January 18 and 19, some of the world's best athletes will compete in the men's and women's Parallel Giant Slalom. This landmark event makes Bulgaria the centre of winter sports and attracts worldwide media attention as well as the snowboarding elite, the Ministry's press release reads.

Caretaker Tourism Minister Evtim Miloshev stressed the importance of this partnership for Bulgarian resorts. "Bansko will showcase the best of Bulgarian hospitality and world-class facilities, and I believe that it is events like this that put us in the top positions in the world of preferred winter resorts," he is quoted as saying.

In the 2023/2024 season, the Snowboard World Cup attracted a viewership of 446 million in over 20 countries. The races from Bansko will be broadcast in real time, on record and via live streaming to viewers on channels such as Eurosport for Europe and Asia, covering markets in Austria, Germany, the UK, Poland, Scandinavian countries and more, the Ministry said.

The Ministry of Tourism recalls it has been working in support of all World Cup and European Cup events over the past 14 years to establish Bulgaria as a preferred winter destination and outstanding host.
