site.btaDeputy PM Gabriel Takes Part in First European Conclave in Portugal

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel took part in the first edition of the European Conclave, a new annual strategic gathering, Gabriel said on Facebook Monday, adding that she was among the nearly 50 participants.

The event took place between November 24 and 26, 2023, at the Presidential Palace of Cascais. It was organized by the EuropaNova think tank and held under the high patronage of Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.

The initiative’s objective is to shape a European 2040 vision. Gabriel said that it was an opportunity for politicians, business representatives, economists, innovators and analysts to contribute to the identification and effective formulation of strategic issues for a strong and united Europe in four areas: geopolitics, new technologies, democracy, and public services.

“Through the European Conclave, we are contributing to a debate that will prepare Europe to be in a better position, not only to respond but also to anticipate global challenges,” the Foreign Minister wrote.

 She added that the results of the meeting will be published in a detailed report at the end of the year with a view to contributing to discussions ahead of the European elections in June 2024 and shaping the EU strategic agenda.
