site.btaFrench Climber David Chambre Presents Piolets d’Or Book in Sofia

French climber and author David Chambre will visit Sofia for the press launch of his book Piolets d’Or. The event will take place at the French Institute on December 4, organizers said.

Chambre will make a second book presentation at the Lumiere cinema on December 5 within the programme of the 18th Days of Challenges Festival.

Piolets d’or by David Chambre and Claude Gardien is a retrospective of the most beautiful climbs, embodying the spirit of modern mountaineering from 1991 to 2023.

The book includes stories about scalings of peaks in the Himalayas, Karakoram, Pamir, Tian Shan, Alaska, Greenland, Yosemite and Patagonia. The book tells about the stories of 120 mountaineers and shows over 420 photos.

The Piolet d’Or, or Golden Ice Axe, is alpine climbing’s biggest award.
