The restored monument to the Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev in Chisinau, Moldova, was inaugurated by Vice President Iliana Iotova. Attending the official ceremony were also Ion Budeci - State Secretary at the Moldovan Culture Ministry, Taraclia Region Chairperson Ivan Paslar, Bulgarian Ambassador in Chisinau Maya Dobreva, Mladen Stanev - President of the Association of Bulgarians around the World (ABS), ABS Vice President Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov, as well as representatives of the Bulgarian community in Moldova.

Iotova said that the monument "recreates the spirit of Hristo Botev to a very great extent".

Addressing the event, President of the Scientific Society of Bulgarians in Moldova Ivan Duminika said that, initially, the monument was inaugurated on June 2, 1977 and has not been restored since then.

After the official ceremony, Bulgarians in Moldova laid flowers and bowed at the monument.

The renovation of the monument to Hristo Botev started on the initiative of the Scientific Society of Bulgarians in Moldova in April 2023. The project was supported by the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry under the Bulgarian Development Aid Programme. The renovation costs BGN 38,293.
