Metropolitan Anthony of Western and Central Europe conferred with Ellen Germain, US State Department Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues at the Holy Synod on October 17, said the Bulgarian Patriarchy on Wednesday. 
Attending the meeting were Bishop Pachomius of Branicevo and Archimandrite Meletius. 
 
The agenda was dominated by the crucial tole of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church as a unifier and spokesperson of the predominant will of Bulgarians to halt the deportation of Bulgarian Jews during the Second World War. 

The sides also underscored the religious and ethnic tolerance and assistance between religious communities in Bulgaria, and the latest developments in the Middle East.
