Over 100 Moldovan students of Bulgarian descent have been admitted to higher education institutions in Bulgaria in the 2023-24 academic year. This transpired at a meeting between Bulgarian Education and Science Minister Galin Tzokov and the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Bulgaria Anatol Chebuk, the Education Ministry said in a press release here on Thursday.

The admission of Moldovan citizens of Bulgarian descent as students, PhD students and post-graduate students in Bulgarian higher education institutions is carried out through a decree of the Council of Ministers regulating educational activities among Bulgarians abroad. During the meeting, it was agreed that the two countries will continue the exchange of students, PhD students, postgraduates, researchers and teachers as an important aspect of the bilateral cooperation. Similar cooperation is also taking place in secondary education, and measures to expand and promote it were also discussed.

During the 2022-23 school year, 55 pupils attended the Bulgarian Sunday school in Chisinau. Children studying Bulgarian language and literature in Moldova are sent teaching aids. During the 2022-23 school year, the Bulgarian Education and Science Ministry provided them 1,476 books and teaching aids.
