The Bulgarian Education Ministry’s Advisory Council for Vocational Education and Training adopted a Strategic Vision for the Development of Dual Training in Bulgaria by 2030, the Ministry reported Thursday. The Vision focuses on the leading role of business in education, development and modernization of the dual education system in this country, as well as the vision’s communication.

The vision’s development was financially supported by the Swiss-Bulgarian Cooperation Programme’s preparation fund.

Education and Science Minister Galin Tzokov opened the meeting of the Advisory Council, which consists of officials from employers' and trade union organizations, business, universities and vocational schools, as well as experts from various institutions. The participants approved the proposed amendments to the Vocational Education and Training Act, which envisage an entirely new list of occupations. The revisions will replace the numerous and often similar specialties with fewer broad-field ones. Training in each occupation will also include environmental protection subjects as well as the acquisition of specialized IT skills necessary for the practising a specific occupation.

The reforms will be carried out implementing Bulgaria's National Recovery and Resilience Plan. They will be financially supported by a Modernization of Vocational Education and Training Project, which was also presented to the Advisory Council.
