According to Vice President Iliana Iotova, the government is not coping well with the problems that are currently happening because of the weather conditions. This is evident from the reactions of people who feel abandoned and that the state is not in place to help them, Iotova told journalists in Razgrad on Saturday.

Regarding the election of Borislav Sarafov as interim Prosecutor General, the Vice President said she would not comment on this appointment. According to her, it is entirely in the work of the judiciary and they have the right to decide what to do from now on. "Even for me it was surprising this new reaction from one of the parliamentary parties and coalitions which I think last night made the attempt to mess with the independent judiciary. This does not surprise me," Iotova said.

Asked about the hearing of former Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev at the meeting of the European Parliament's Monitoring Group on Democracy, the Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights in Strasbourg on Tuesday this week, Iotova said she was not surprised by what happened.  "As someone who knows well the way the European Commission, the committee at the European Parliament, works, I did not expect miracles. It is an old maxim, my personal and my creed, that our national problems should not be exported to another territory, to other people who at least do not know the specifics in the country and we expect someone to solve our problems instead of solving them ourselves," the Vice President said. According to her, the right way is to solve them here and have a civic consciousness about it.
