April 26 (BTA) - Outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on Monday that the government tried to draw up "a good recovery and resilience plan". Speaking at a meeting with the team who worked on the plan, the Prime Minister said that the plan's aim is to improve people's lives and increase the growth in the coming years. The meeting was streamed live in Borissov's Facebook profile

"We can bear responsibility and we are ready with the plan which took a lot of work underpinned by political experience. If the opposition or the current incumbents have a different plan, let them present it," Borissov said.

Outgoing Deputy Prime Minister Tomislav Donchev, who was in charge of overseeing the preparation of the plan, said that the document is a very important financial instrument but it does not exhaust the funding Bulgaria stands to receive in EU funding until 2030. Donchev said that in addition to the plan, Bulgaria takes advantage of ongoing operational programmes and the Just Transition Fund which targets decarbonisation policies.

EU Member States are required to submit national recovery and resilience plans to be able to benefit from the EU's dedicated facility of the same name intended to mitigate the economic and social impact of the coronavirus pandemic and make European economies and societies more sustainable, resilient and better prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the green and digital transitions.

Outgoing Health Minister Kostadin Angelov said that Bulgaria's plan has solutions to key problems in the healthcare sector. The plan has measures for renovation of medical establishments which include new and state-of-the-art medical equipment, and measures for modernization of psychiatry. RY/ZH
