site.btaE-System for Choice of Vaccine Is Launched on May 10

April 29 (BTA) - Outgoing Health Minister Kostadin
Angelov told a news briefing on Thursday that an electronic
system for choosing a COVID-19 vaccine will be launched on May
10.

The European Commission has launched an initiative for talks
with three large companies who are preparing to begin production
of a medicine against the coronavirus, he said, adding that it
will be procured for the Bulgarian citizens.

"For the time being we can allow night clubs and bars to open,"
said the Health Minister, noting that this decision can be
changed if the situation calls for. "We are not afraid to make
popular or unpopular decisions," he said.

Taking a question about how the government will proceed if
Parliament decides on procuring a Russian vaccine before its
approval by the European Commission, Angelov said that he wonТt
be the minister the violate the EU laws and regulations,

During a meeting of outgoing Prime Minister Boyko Borissov with
some of the ministers of the outgoing cabinet, streamed on
Facebook, Angelov called "concerning" the decision to launch
talks about the supply of a Russian vaccine.

"The decision goes against the law," he said. The vaccine is not
a product used for prevention and falls outside the scope of
the Medicinal Products in Human Medicine Act.

"For the vaccine to be supplied in Bulgaria, as the Bulgarian
Socialist Party want, there should be a centralized procurement
procedure in the European Union," said the Health Minister.
According to him, this endangers the life and health of
Bulgarian citizens, because its safety and efficiency assessment
in the European Union has not concluded. RI/PP
