Sofia, July 9 (BTA) - Bulgaria aspires to attract more
investments from the United States in the field of information
technology and innovation, President Rumen Radev said at a
meeting in Sofia with a US Congress delegation led by Senators
Ben Cardin and Roger Wicker and Representative Joe Wilson, as
quoted by his Press Secretariat on Friday.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Sixth Summit of
the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) in the Bulgarian capital.

Radev pointed out: "The US is one of the world's technological
leaders. Our successful bilateral partnerships in areas of high
value added should be upgraded."

The members of the US Congress expressed Washington's consistent
support for the 3SI, including the Initiative's Investment
Fund. They underscored the 3SI's contribution to the region's
energy supply diversification and the development of
infrastructure connectivity among the countries of Central and
Eastern Europe.

Bilateral partnership in the fight against corruption was also
discussed during the meeting. Radev commented: "The designation
of Bulgarian individuals and companies under the Global
Magnitsky sanctions programme is a clear sign of support for
civil society's push to achieve real results in strengthening
the rule of law."

The guests noted that corruption is an enemy of good governance
practice and democracy. They raised the question about the
condition of the media environment in Bulgaria, which places
112th in the world media freedom ranking by Reporters Without
Borders.

Bilateral partnership in cybersecurity and defence also featured
on the agenda of the talks. NV/VE
