Speaking to journalists here on Monday, caretaker Bulgarian Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev confirmed that he was ready to stay in office if President Radev offered to reappoint him.

"The procedure is already underway. The President is reviewing the list under the Constitution that the Constitutional Court has left in effect," Glavchev said.

He was referring to the range of senior officials among whom the head of State can pick a caretaker prime minister: the National Assembly chair, the central bank governor and vice governors, the Bulgarian National Audit Office president and vice presidents, and the national ombudsman and deputy ombudsman.

Glavchev added that he would accept the position again due to the good work with his team, which, in his words, performs well.

"We organized fair and transparent elections," he said.

Earlier on Monday, National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan made it clear that she had confirmed her last week's refusal to be appointed caretaker prime minister, while There Is Such a People returned unfulfilled the third and last cabinet-forming mandate to President Radev, who now has to appoint a caretaker prime minister and schedule elections within two months.
