Caretaker Defence Minister Dimitar Stoyanov said at a press conference on Wednesday that Bulgaria's fighter aviation is in an extremely difficult situation. He warned that there is a real danger that Bulgaria will not be able to protect its airspace by itself in the next 3-4 years. Among the reasons for this, he pointed to both the war in Ukraine and the sanctions imposed regarding the repairs of Russian equipment, as well as the delay in the contract for the F-16 aircraft pуrchased from the US.
