Rakovski, South Central Bulgaria, September 6 (BTA) - Visiting the town of Rakovski on Monday on the occasion of Unification Day, President Rumen Radev told reporters that "we need to cure our complexes of political doom, because it is Bulgaria's Unification that has shown that we are capable of achieving great goals."

In Rakovski, the head of State visited the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, talked to citizens and met with business representatives from the nearby economic zone.

Radev also met with the mayor of the village of Belozem, Violeta Petrova, and with representatives of local farmers whose harvest was destroyed by hail in late August. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yavor Gechev, Deputy Justice Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev and Plovdiv Regional Governor Angel Stoev.

Radev said that it is important to have financial aid paid to the affected farmers as soon as possible and by this year's end. Gechev stated that the ministry has only two million leva for compensation. He expressed the expectation that the necessary funds will come from the budget update, where 15 million leva are earmarked for the farmers affected by the hail.

On Sunday, Radev visited the south-central town of Chirpan where he took part in a citywide celebration of Unification Day, along with Parliament Deputy Chair Rositsa Kirova and business delegations from Turkey, Serbia, Russia and Bulgaria, who also took part in a business forum in the local village of Mogilovo later on Sunday afternoon.
