Albena resort, Black Sea coast, September 30 (BTA) - International aspects of tax and criminal law are being discussed by prosecutors, investigators, employees of the Ministry of Interior and the State Agency for National Security at a Bulgarian-Bavarian seminar in the Albena resort. The forum is organized by the Hanns Seidel Foundation and will be on until October 2.

Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev pointed out at the opening of the meeting on Thursday that with the development of traditionally good relations and contacts between law enforcement agencies in Bulgaria and Germany, cases of mutual interest will be resolved. At the same time, procedures will be sped up in the interest of the fight against crime in the European Union, Geshev said.

Dr. Klaus Fiesinger, Hanns Seidel Foundation's regional director for Southeast Europe, said: "We will continue talks on issues such as human trafficking and terrorism, but it is extremely important to expand knowledge and exchange experience in substantive and procedural law."

According to Deputy Prosecutor General and Administrative Head of the National Investigation Service Borislav Sarafov, now that politicians in Bulgaria are divided, law enforcement agencies must remain united and capable of working in the public interest.

Germany's deputy head of mission in Sofia, Stephan Roken, said the rule of law only works when there is trust in the justice system. According to him, there should be no selective justice, but jurisprudence for every citizen.

Deputy Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova announced that a working group is being set up at her Ministry to review the legislation in tax and criminal law. She called on the other institutions to appoint their representatives for the discussion.
