109 ECONOMY - BTA - COOPERATION AGREEMENT

Bulgarian News Agency,
German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce
Sign Cooperation Agreement

Sofia, September 30 (BTA) Ц Director General of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Kiril Valchev and German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AHK Bulgarien) President Tim Kurth, who is also CEO of Aurubis Bulgaria, signed a partnership and cooperation agreement at BTA on Thursday. The BTA Director General noted that the signing of the agreement with the Chamber is on the eve of the national holiday of Germany, October 3.

Through this cooperation agreement, BTA will expand its economic news in a particularly valuable way, Valchev said. The Agency will have access and the right to disseminate in both its Bulgarian and English editions the information from the weekly bulletin of the Chamber "Bulgarien aktuell". The most interesting news will be picked on a weekly basis, Valchev said, adding that this will provide quality economic information related to the activities of the Chamber, the events it organizes or promotes in Germany, the fairs it represents, the branch analyzes done by the German business on Bulgaria, and specific investments in the Bulgarian economy by German companies.

BTA's policy is to present to the Bulgarian media a new way of talking about business: with company names, said the Director General of the Agency. We do not see this as advertising, but as information. Bulgarians need to know who makes what investments in the Bulgarian economy, Valchev said.

Tim Kurth expressed satisfaction that the signing of the agreement with BTA will set a positive start in bilateral cooperation. He said the details of the agreement would be discussed in the coming days and weeks, so that both sides could benefit enough from its terms.

Dr. Mitko Vassilev, Managing Director of AHK Bulgarien, who was present at the signing of the agreement, pointed out that 2019 was a record year for bilateral trade, which amounted to 8.5 billion euro. For five years, Bulgaria has had a positive trade balance with Germany, which only 65 countries in the world have managed to achieve, he added.
