COVID-19 Update:
3,469 New Cases,
Test Positivity Rate at 19.29%

Sofia, October 13 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases
in Bulgaria reached 527,802, after 17,981 tests identified
3,469 new infections on Tuesday, according to data posted on
https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at
19.29 per cent.

Sofia Region tops the list of new cases with 951 positive tests
and Kardzhali Region has the least new cases with 25 positive
tests.

The active cases are 54,065. Currently, the hospitalized
patients number 5,646, including 485 in intensive care. Over the
last 24 hours 787 have been hospitalized, of which 91.49 per
cent unvaccinated.

Another 1,169 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24
hours, bringing the total to 451,831. The total number of
confirmed cases is 527,802.

93 fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to
21,906.

With 7,669 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,601,548
vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,369,817 people
are fully vaccinated, and 5,669 have received a booster jab.

The total mortality rate from COVID-19 is now about a third lower than during previous waves, and the main reason for this is probably the fact that 20 per cent of the population are already vaccinated or have encountered the disease, Health Minister Stoycho Katsarov told reporters, adding that false allegations are being spread and false conclusions are being drawn about the situation.

During the first wave in March-September 2020, the cases of coronavirus infection were few, and a total of 7,920 people died, said the advisor to the Minister Prof. Mira Kozhuharova. In the second wave, 8459 people died from the infection. The third wave began on August 14 this year, with 3,364 deaths in the first nine weeks, she said.
