COVID-19 Update:
5,643 New Cases,
Test Positivity Rate at 13.5%
Sofia, October 28 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 587,765, after 41,613 tests identified 5,643 new infections on Wednesday, according to data posted on https://coronavirus.bg/. The test positivity rate now stands at 13.5 per cent.
Sofia City Region tops the list of new cases with 1,627 positive tests, followed by Varna Region with 534 and Plovdiv Region with 474 cases.
The active cases are 90,543. Currently, the hospitalized patients number 7,373, including 607 in intensive care.
The infected medical staff have reached 15,677, with 84 new cases over the last 24 hours.
Another 2,225 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 473,628.
A hundred and fifty-four fatalities were reported, and the death toll now adds up to 23,594.
With 25,424 new inoculations over the last 24 hours, 2,800,965 vaccine doses have been administered so far and 1,479,038 people are fully vaccinated, and 15,370 have received a booster jab.
