November 1 (BTA) - Half of the parents in Bulgaria consider private tutoring in addition to the usual schoolwork to be necessary for their child to be admitted to the desired school, according to a survey conducted in September by the educational platform Nauchi.bg among 400 Bulgarian parents, teachers and students, said the organizers of the initiative on Monday.

The survey examined the attitudes of the three key groups towards online tools, distance learning, private lessons, and innovative teaching methods.

More than 50 per cent of the surveyed students are also of the opinion that they would not be able to enter the school they want without additional extracurricular training. Most students say that private lessons prepare them for upcoming tests or school-leaving examinations, or help them address difficulties with a particular subject.

Over 80 per cent of the surveyed parents indicate that learning subjects through innovative and interactive methods leads to an increase in children's knowledge.

More than half of the surveyed teachers (55.8 per cent) have given individual online lessons, or would do so, if they haven't yet. Teachers see an additional positive effect of online lessons in the more confident use of digital technologies and the opportunity to use more, diverse, and innovative teaching methods. According to teachers, improved communication with their students is one of the most positive changes for students in online lessons. VE/MT
