November 1 (BTA) - Our goal is to attract more investors to Bulgaria, said Turkish Ambassador Aylin Sekizkok during an online forum on ways to intensify trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Turkey after the COVID pandemic, organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey.

Ambassador Sekizkok pointed out Bulgaria's membership in the EU as a precondition for activating the investment interest from Turkey. According to her, Bulgaria is a suitable hub for trade. She said that the Kapitan Andreevo - Kapikule border checkpoint is the main artery for trade relations with Bulgaria and added that it is necessary to ensure continuous transport through the border crossings between the two countries. She expressed satisfaction with the news of a competition for the construction of two new lanes for long vehicles.

The diplomat noted that during the two pandemic years, Turkish companies investing in Bulgaria have turned difficulties into new opportunities and increased their production, exports and capacity, and she cited the example of several companies that are successfully operating in Bulgaria. Bulgaria's exports increased during this period, which shows that things are slowly returning to normal. Together with the processes of globalization, Bulgaria is a very important factor in Turkey's activities, Sekizkok said.

Angel Cholakov, Ambassador of Bulgaria to Turkey, emphasized the potential of Bulgarian-Turkish relations which should be focused on specific initiatives

Julian Balchev, Chief Expert at InvestBulgaria Agency, said during the forum that Turkey is a priority in the Agency's programme and pointed out that much of the investment in the automotive industry, namely automotive parts, goes to Turkish manufacturers. Other leading sectors with potential for investors are information and communication technologies and outsourced business processes and services. VE/MT
