Sofia, November 2 (BTA) - Over 350 troops and more than 40 vehicles from the Land Forces were deployed on November 1 to assist the Interior Ministry services in protecting Bulgaria's border with Greece and Turkey, the Defence Ministry said on Tuesday.

Servicepersons from two motorized infantry forces, 61st Stryama Brigade and 2nd Tundzha Brigade, are conducting joint patrols with border police officers.

The Land Forces have also been tasked with carrying out urgent repairs at the border fence between Bulgaria and Turkey and an adjoining road. The repairs are proceeding according to a joint plan of the Directorate General of Border Police and the Land Forces Command. In keeping with the plan, 20 servicepersons from the 55th Engineering Regiment using 7 specialized vehicles began on October 29 to repair the part of the fence in the area of the Elhovo Regional Directorate of Border Police.
