Sofia, November 12 (BTA) - The next meeting of the Bulgarian-Turkish management committee in agriculture will be held in Bulgaria in 2022, the two countries' ministers of agriculture, Hristo Bozukov and Bekir Pakdemirli, agreed during a meeting in Turkey held at the sidelines of an event called "Breath for the Future, Breath for the World" on November 11, which in Turkey is National Afforestation Day, Bozukov's Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

"Breath for the Future, Breath for the World" was held for the third consecutive year under the auspices of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During the meeting, Bozukov said that Bulgaria and Turkey can cooperate in research and exchange of scientific information regarding forest adaptation. In his words, the joint work will contribute in the efforts to cope with the emerging challenges in the protection of woodlands and forest biodiversity.

Bozukov said further that his Ministry together with the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry launched a campaign for the donation of 5,000 saplings of Bulgarian trees to be planted in Antalya.

The two ministers also discussed the traditionally good relations in the work between their ministries.

Bozukov noted that Turkey is one of Bulgaria's main partners in the trade in agricultural produce, accounting for about six per cent of the total commercial exchange in agricultural goods. In 2020 Bulgaria's exports of agricultural produce to Turkey stood at 347.9 million US dollars, 7.5 per cent more year-on-year.

At the end of their meeting, Bozukov and his host voiced confidence that the productive partnership will continue to expand in the future as well.
