November 18 (BTA) - A total of 34,288 school students are undergoing training to improve their digital skills for working with online education platforms. These include 13,547 first-graders who are receiving assistance for a trouble-free transition from preschool to school education in an electronic environment. The effort also benefits older students who have had difficulty studying from home, children from vulnerable social groups and children of computer-illiterate parents, the Education and Science Ministry said on Thursday.

So far, 25,216 kids have received certificates for successful completion of such courses. The training is available under a project called Equal Access to School Education during Crises, which is aimed to avert early school leaving.

Parents, teachers and education mediators are offered short training courses too. A total of 6,635 teachers have participated in them so far, and 5,569 of them have received certificates after improving their computer skills. The courses have involved 9,874 parents and education mediators who have experienced difficulties in assisting kids in online learning.

Meanwhile, technical equipment is being provided for the education system. Suppliers have so far delivered 85,689 laptop and tablet computers, including 64,997 ones for school students and 20,692 for teachers. DD/VE
