site.btaTwo Young Men Arrested for Attempted 5 Million Leva Lottery Fraud

Sofia, August 8 (BTA) - Two 19-year-old men were arrested in the seaside city of Varna for trying to obtain over 5 million leva from the Toto lottery unlawfully, the Prosecution of the Republic of Bulgaria reported on Friday.

The suspects tried to deceive a Toto office clerk by falsely claiming a prize of 5,026,320.60 leva from the second draw in the 51st edition of the "6 out of 49" game which took place on June 26. The Toto operator, Bulgarian Sports Totalizator, reported the incident to the police early in July.

The arrests were carried out by criminal police officers under the supervision of the Sofia City Prosecution Office. The two suspects were charged with attempted gross fraud and taken into 72-hour custody. Work on the case continues.
