site.btaJudge Krassimira Medarova Becomes Minister for Elections

Sofia, August 8 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev decreed that judge Krassimira Medarova will join the caretaker government as a minister responsible for organizing the October 5 early parliamentary elections, the President's Press Secretariat said on Friday.

Medarova asked the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to relieve her of her duties as a judge with the Sofia Appellate Court, because the job is incompatible with her new functions as a government minister. SJC is expected to consider her request on Monday.

Earlier on, Medarova chaired the Central Election Commission.
