Sofia, August 9 (BTA) - Protest Network declared itself on Saturday against the appointment of judge Krassimira Medarova as Minister without Portfolio in charge of elections.

President Rosen Plevneliev decreed on Friday that Medarova will join the caretaker government as a minister responsible for organizing the October 5 early
parliamentary elections. Earlier on, Medarova chaired the Central Election Commission (CEC) on the quota of the GERB Party in the period from April 2011 to March 2014. At present she is a judge at the Sofia Appellate Court.

Protest Network note that the position is very important and should be assigned to a person with perfect reputation and certified professionalism. No compromise should be made.

According to the organization, in her capacity as CEC Chair, Krassimira Medarova has failed to ensure the transparent operation of the commission without leaving any doubt about her performance.
