Sofia, August 12 (BTA) - The EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva, and Bulgaria's caretaker Interior Minister Yordan Bakalov will be visiting the flood-hit northwestern town of Mizia on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry said.

Two people were killed, tens of homes were destroyed and many more made uninhabitable when the swelling Skut River flooded Mizia. The town is still struggling with the aftermath of the destruction caused by the flood. The Environment Ministry has said that the sole reason for the flood was high precipitation and the overflowing Skut River.

The EU Commissioner and the Interior Minister will check the situation, the work of the rescue workers and volunteers, and the conditions in the shelters for the people who still cannot return to their homes. They will meet with local people and hold a news briefing.
