Sofia, August 14 (BTA) - A total of 16.3 million leva will be made available to flood-hit municipalities to cope with the most pressing needs, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki said Thursday after the first meeting in the new composition of the Interdepartmental Commission for Reconstruction and Assistance with the Council of Ministers.

Bliznashki noted that Thursday's meeting of the Commission approved the granting of an amount of 1 million leva, while the remaining 15.3 million leva have been approved by the previous composition of the Commission. A decision on release of the money is expected to be adopted at the next Council of Ministers' meeting.

Bliznashki said that the application forms for EU aid to the municipalities hit by the previous wave of floods in late June have been sent to Brussels. "It is a matter of time before we receive the aid from the EU Solidarity Fund," the Prime Minister said.

The municipalities to which funds will be provided are Varna, Dobrich, Veliko Turnovo, Gabrovo, Teteven, Mizia and Sofia.
