Sofia, August 20 (BTA) - The caretaker government relieved Wednesday Zhivka Aladzhova, Ivan Velikov and Mihail Mihailov of their duties as regional governors of Stara Zagora, Varna and Pernik, the government information service said. Dimitrinka Petrounova, Stoyan Passev and Boyka Petrova were appointed to these positions.

Petrounova is a law graduate from St. Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia, with international specialisations in management and commercial mediations, as well as in acquis communautaire.

Passev is an engineer in machine-building and has a master's degree in law from the Technical University in Varna (on the Black Sea). He also has a master's degree in economics and trade management from the Economics University in the Black Sea port.

The regional administration in Pernik (Western Bulgaria) will be headed by the Chair of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Petrova has a master's degree in economics from the University of National and World Economy and has also specialized at the Technical University in Sofia.

Most probably there will be yet another series of changes of regional governors, but after their work has been reviewed, Prime Minister Georgi Bliznashki said after todayТs replacements. There will be no relieving of duties on a mass scale but an attempt is being made to improve the work of regional administrations and to make people believe that free and fair elections will be held. We cannot leave the regional governor of Razgrad (Northeastern Bulgaria), for example, because he is a leading candidate who tops a list, the Prime Minister said.
