Shoumen, Northeastern Bulgaria, August 20 (BTA) - An instance of anthrax is suspected in the village of Zagoriche, near Shoumen, Dr Katya Raikinska, head of the Regional Directorate of Food Safety in Shoumen, said on Wednesday. Samples from a deceased animal have sent to the National Reference Laboratory back on August 13, she said.

"The animal in question has been put to death and vaccination has been performed of all animals in the village," Raikinska said. An incidence of anthrax occurred in the same village in June 2012.
