President Plevneliev
Predicts Growth of
Bulgarian Investments in Vietnam

Sofia, December 4 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev received
Vietnamese Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, the President's Press
Secretariat said.

During the meeting President Plevneliev predicted a growth of
the Bulgarian investments in the following years. The Bulgarian
business has an interest in investing the processing of oils,
pharmacy and cosmetics, the food industry, tobacco production,
wine production as well as in the field of defence and defence
technologies, the President pointed out. The head of State said
that Bulgarian engineering companies possess a rich experience
and can participate in joint ventures for the building of
irrigation systems, implementation of infrastructure, mining or
energy projects.

Bulgaria offers excellent opportunities as an interim point for
the export of Vietnamese goods to the markets of the EU and the
countries of the region, including fish and other sea products,
processed in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian Black Sea and river ports
and industrial zones may be used for this purpose. These
possibilities are in the basis of the Strategic Partnership
between the two countries, which includes the new model of
economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam, approved
during President Plevneliev's visit to Vietnam in late 2013.

2015 will be the year of small and medium-sized business in
Vietnam, Vice President Doan said during the meeting. Vietnam
has been working on a plan for promotion of its economic growth
in the next year through the implementation of big
infrastructure projects and applying the mechanism of public and
private partnership, restructuring of the banking system and
privatization of state-owned enterprises. According to the
Vietnamese Vice President, this will open many possibilities for
Bulgarian companies to set a foothold on the Vietnamese market.

She urged to renew the tradition of the visits of Bulgarian
professors to Vietnam on an annual basis and to increase
Bulgarian fellowships for Vietnamese students. The traditionally
friendly ties between the two countries will continue to rest
on the many Bulgarian graduates in Vietnam, the Vietnamese
Diaspora in Bulgaria as well as the two countries' business, the
guest noted. The Vietnamese Vice President, who is a Bulgarian
university graduate, thanked for the possibility given to tens
of thousands of Vietnamese citizens to study and work in
Bulgaria.

In 2015, Bulgaria and Vietnam will mark the 65th anniversary of
the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. It
transpired at the meeting that the anniversary will be marked by
a high number of events, the press release said. /VI/TK/
