Bulgarian Companies in 23 Sectors to Be Rated according to Economic Condition and Social Responsibility

Sofia, January 19 (BTA) - Bulgarian companies in 23 sectors will
participate in a rating system of employers every year, said
Bozhidar Danev, Executive Chairman of the Bulgarian Industrial
Association (BIA), and Plamen Dimitrov, President of the
Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB).

They gave a joint news conference on the launch of the online
rating system which will be integrated into MyCompetence, a
Competence Assessment Information System developed by BIA. The
employer assessment rating system, РеСОР, will be fed data on
the employers' economic condition and social responsibility and
on working conditions at the companies. Employers who break the
law, delay wage payments or do not offer proper working
conditions will be put on a blacklist, said Dimitrov and Danev.

Employers will be assessed along indicators for the financial
year of the rating: number of employees, wages and social
insurance contributions paid, annual turnover, declared pre-tax
profit, and profits tax. Indicators including return on
investment, efficiency, financial autonomy, assets turnover, and
human resources management are used.

The system was designed under a project entitled "Security
through Law, Flexibility through Collective Bargaining"
implemented by CITUB and BIA under Operational Programme Human
Resources Development.

In addition to the public rating, a voluntary rating will be
issued, based on assessments by the company's employees and
management.

At this stage, 4,345 companies have been rated based on official
and publicly accessible data of the National Statistical
Institute, the National Social Security Institute and the
Privatization Agency. Comparisons are based only on quantitative
criteria.

At the second stage, qualitative criteria will be included to
compare the type and development of investments, product list
expansion, innovation and corporate social responsibility.

All enterprises of the sectors included in the system can apply
to be included in the rating system by filling in an online
form.

Dimitrov and Danev said the system would help employers and
trade unions to identify companies where improvements are needed
in work with human resources, the employer's social
responsibility or the company's financial condition.
