Bulgaria to Insist on EU Support for Producers
of Milk and Milk Products
due to Russian Embargo

Sofia, January 20 (BTA) - At the January 26 EU Agriculture and
Fisheries Council meeting, Bulgaria will call for EU-wide
measures in support of producers of milk and milk products,
according to a draft position approved on Monday by the Council
on European Affairs, the government information service said.

"We would support the introduction of an export subsidy for
cheese, including Bulgarian white brined cheese and kashkaval
yellow cheese," says the position.

Bulgaria also wants the extended application of the mechanism
for support for certain quantities of fruits and vegetables to
apply to the Member States to which the temporary exceptional
support measures under Delegated Regulation 1031/2014 were made
available for quantities up to 3,000 tonnes.

Bulgaria will insist on the introduction of an additional
geographic criterion in the Juncker Plan to equalize the
investor attractiveness of the EU regions and to guarantee a
level playing field to the Member States considering the
objective of cohesion and providing opportunities for priority
financing of less favoured regions. This is planned in a draft
position of the Council on European Affairs for the January 27
EU Economic and Financial Affairs (Ecofin) Council. PK/DD
